1. Hands - Keep hands clear of any sharp parts or cutting objects/blades of the tools. 4" minimum clearance is the best way to avoid injury. Your hands should never be any closer that the distance of your 4 fingers on one hand.
2. No Running - No running or horse-play in the computer lab or workshop.
3. Eye Protection - Safety glasses or eye protection must be worn while operating power tools.
4. Long Sleeves - Long sleeve shirts must be rolled up. 5. Long hair - Long hair must be tied back.
6. One Person at a time - Only one person is allowed to operate a machine at a time.
7. Follow Instructions - student's will follow teacher's instructions.
8. Follow Safety Rules -Students will use and follow proper safety rules.
9. Use Safety Guards - Students will operate all equipment with safety guards in place.
10. Pass all Safety Tests - Students must pass all safety test before being able to operate a machine.
11. Don't Bother Students on a Machine - Don't bother students working on a machine.
12. Get Training on each tool before using it - Obtain training and instruction on how to use each type of equipment or tool properly before using it.
13. Report broken Equipment - Students must report equipment that needs to be repaired or that is broken and should not be used any longer.
14. Keep the lab and workshop organized and clean -Students will need to help keep the work areas organized and free from clutter. Return tools and equipment to the designated storage areas. Clean up saw dust and scraps from the job site after completing cuts or sanding.
Prior to working with any power tool:
Safety training & Videos must be reviewed;
all quizzes must be passed; and
individualized demonstration and practice must be performed with each type of tool used.
